Highlights from Wadi Rum Ram Katha
ABOUT WADI RUM RAM KATHA
Wadi Rum has significant historical and religious significance. It is known as The Valley of The Moon and is a place of true beauty and tranquility, which allows you to experience the sands of time, without the need for a time machine.
Ram Katha is a nine-day discourse based on the simple message of Truth, Love and Compassion. During Wadi Rum Ram Katha, Bapu focused primarily on one topic, Maun (silence), and hence the Katha subject was known as Manas Maun.
Referring to the Hindu scripture, the Ramayana, Bapu referenced a few lines, chopai, in which to deepen his discussion on the subject of Maun.
Ayodhya Kand – Doha 16
Hamahu kahabi aba thakursohāti | nāhi ta mauna rahab dinu rāti ||
हमहुँ कहबि अब ठकुरसोहाती । नाहिं त मौन रहब दिनु राती ॥
From this day onward I too will utter only that which is palatable to my mistress, or else will keep mum all the twenty-four hours.
Bal Kand – Doha 112
ehin samāja thala bujaba rāur | mauna malina mai bolaba bāur ||
एहिं समाज थल बूझब राउर । मौन मलिन मैं बोलब बाउर ॥
To think that you should seek my advice in this assembly (of wise men) and at this holy place! Yet if I keep mum I shall be considered black of heart; and if I speak of this occasion it will be sheer madness on my part.
There was, and never is, a guest list, a dress code or any expectations in Ram Katha. Rather, Ram Katha is an open event that hopes to provide a meaningful experience to its listeners; whether this be through the stories Bapu tells, the food, Prasad (vegetarian food offering), offered or simply the atmosphere created throughout the nine days.

“Nothing prepares you for the sheer majesty of the red sand being watched over by the gigantic granite rocks. Sunsets are out of this world, and night time treats you to a wonderful star show.”
